Screening of Immunomodulatory Activity of Canarium ovatum Ethanolic Pulp Extract

The present study aims to assess the immunomodulatory potential of a local species, the pili. This will provide baseline information regarding the potential use of this plant as immuno-nutritional supplements. The pili pulp is commonly used as vegetable dish however there is a need to establish its health benefits. Most of the studies are focused on its oil but not on the pulp itself. Also while some utilized the pulp as oil and as feeds for domesticated animals; the pulp is usually discarded off as a waste. Hence, this research project aims to investigate the immunomodulatory activity of pili pulp ethanolic extract and generate a reproducible protocol from it. This research will provide additional information of the health benefits of pili pulp and for additional economic value of pili pulp.  Information of its biological activities is significant to its utilization and the possible introduction to industrial and pharmaceuticals production.
