Skill Mix of Health Workers in Primary Healthcare Settings

The major objective of the project is to explore the various context- and area-specific factors that may influence the determination of optimum skill mix and/or standard ratio of health professionals to population across geographical locations and settings.


 

The specific objectives are as follows:

  1. Identify the current structure of health workforce in LGUs based on population size, facility ratio, and service delivery;

  2. Differentiate the roles and/or activities (managerial and clinical) of each type of health professional in the provision of these services;

  3. Identify the various factors that may influence the determination of  the appropriate number, standard HRH ratio and skill mix needed based on i) geographical location, ii) setting/type of communities, and iii) population to deliver the essential primary health care services.
