The four patients not mentioned were decompressed and they all recovered. There were no complications after the aspiration of air.
The one that died was relieved of the dyspnea for two hours. Later on there was recurrence until finally the patient died. Perhaps there was a big tear in the pleura. He was not recommended for surgery because he was very weak and in a serious condition. The patient was not autopsied. Cause of death; (clinically) was respiratory failure secondary to pulmonary tuberculosis, moderately advanced, and spontaneous pneumothorax.
