Following advancements in technology, Photogrammetry is defined by the Webster Dictionary as a method wherein reliable measurements are made the use of photographs. Developed in the 1850, this method is widely used not only in the areas of photography and basic sciences but now also employed in the field of postural assessments. It is a simple, non-invasive tool used in posture assessments that make re unbiased detection of possible deviations by analyzing angles and linear measurements of landmarks pointed on the patient's skin which later can be viewed and interpreted as a digital image record.


The temporomandibular joint (TMJ) is involved in the daily activities such as chewing, swallowing, talking and yawning. As a consequence of the frequent and repetitive stresses which are placed on it, the TMJ is often predisposed to similar degenerative changes and  pathologist seen in other synovial joints. Assessment procedure is important to evaluate the joint's biomechanics, monitor restrictions and deviations that may suggest dysfunction that can alter the joint's overall function.
